Question Motor problem
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WISR 309 DT BWW
Age: More than 10 years

Having a problem with motor starting. Motor tries to start but needs assistance before it begins to spin. Motor "hums" and gets hot if not assisted. When assisted runs at normal speed.
This is a new motor to replace one displaying same fault. Clutch and transmission assembly also new and ruled out as a problem as same effect with v belt disconnected and removed from motor.
Is there a capacitor fitted in this machine or is it possible to fit one to assist the start?
.

Are you trying to run the washer with an extension cord?

You probably have a bad timer or wiring to the motor. You will need a meter to test.
