Unhappy Motor not driving
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LSQ8243HQ0
Age: 5 - 10 years

The motor sounds like it is running (actually noisier) but it is not turning the coupler for the direct drive. I've tried switching selector settings but that doesn't make a difference.

If the washer is pumping the water out of the washer then the motor is working.

If you have found pieces of the coupler under the washer then the coupler will need to be replaced.

Here is a link to your washer model LSQ8243HQ0.
