Default Is motor or capacitor bad
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.92573210
Age: 5 - 10 years

Motor hums will not turn. I took motor off machine and tried it , the motor hums and if you spin it by hand it start running. When you stop it and try it again it does the same thing. Once you start the motor it runs fine but will not start on its own. Is it the motor or just the capacitor????

Hi,

Sound like a bad capacitor to me.
Unless you have a capacitor meter to check it with about all you can do is try a new one.

The capacitor will be a lot cheaper to try then a motor.

If your motor will run if you push it, your start windings are bad, if your cap is bad zero, nada, nothing, not a hum or buzz will happen.
