It is likely the pressure switch or the temperature switch that is causing your problem.

The hose that runs for the water level, also know as the pressure switch, goes to a air box on the side of the tub.

The hose supplies air pressure to the switch to shut the water of when the tub is full.

You should not have to move the washer it is a front service unit.
I have a three yr old kenmore elite HD king size. Also agitates w/o filling. Was told youngster put detergent into softener dispenser. Disassembled and cleaned unit to no avail. Losing hair by the fistful, help
