Cool Mean Sound
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: pavt244aww
Age: 1 - 4 years

During spin cycle washer makes an extreme grinding sound (metal on metal). I removed bucket and agitator. The sound is coming from the spinning housing. Could it be a bearing? Is it worth repair?

It is likely the tub bearing.

If the washer is only a few years old then it is worth repairing.

Here is a link to your washer model pavt244aww.
