I have a Maytag Performa almost 9 years old that started having problems discharging water in the spin cycle and now it will not discharge any water at all. I hear a high pitched whine during the spin cycle which I can tell is not spinning as fast as it used to. When I open the lid during the spin cycle the tub stops and all the water comes rushing back in. I have checked the discharge line all the way to the machine as well as the discharge port and they are all clear. The belts underneath are all in good shape and are still attached. Any help determining why it will not spin at its normal speed or discharge water from the tub would be appreciated.

Take the front panel off and see if something is in the pump.

If there is nothing in the pump something like a sock may have gotten between the tubs and is blocking the drain hole.
