Default Maytag washer, knob won't pull out
Model Number: LAT9400AAL
Age: 5 - 10 years

From what I see in the diagram my problem is with the timer knob. It is in the "in" position and can be turned to make a selection, but the knob will not pull out to activate the selection. Actually, if you turn the knob and pull it 30 times, it might pull out once. When it does pull out and activate the cycle you've chosen, the washer functions well all the way through to the end of the cycle. Glad for your input and suggestions..... Thank you.

Here is a link to your washer model LAT9400AAL.

It does sound like a problem with the timer not the knob.

To check the knob pop the center out of the knob and check the operation.
