Default Maytag washer has a clicking sound during spin and a hard squeal sound at breaking
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAV6057AWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

During spin cycle there is a clicking sound like when you attach a playing card to a bicycle and the card clicks on the spokes when the wheel is turing. Also, when you open the lid there is a fairly loud squeal when the break stops the tub.

The clicking is louder at the start when the most water is being evacuated and not as loud as the cycle cintinues and more water is removed.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Clicking sound may be from the pump. Tip the washer over backwards and remove the belt . Rotate the pump pulley counter clockwise and see if its noisey or if you feel a slight hesitation as it turns . There may be a foreign object lodged in the pump making noise . If your lucky you can remove the pump and fish it out with needle nose pliers. As for the squeal you need to change your brake rotor and stator. You need a special tool for this . Might want to call a tech,,be very careful if you attempt this your self because the brake spring could do a nasty job on your head
