Default Maytag Washer drum brake noise.
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: PAV2200AWW
Age: More than 10 years

Thanks to this forum, I replaced the water level switch and water inlet valve on our Maytag washer. THANKS !! When the washer kept over filling, before the repair of level switch and water inlet valve, I think the drum brake got wet causing a very loud squeal, when the drum stops. Drum stops normal but is there anything I should check or be concerned about? Thanks again......

If the break got wet this is likely what is causing the squeal.

When it dries the squeal will go away.

Crazy but I heard of throwing talcom powder on the brake shoes. Might also try silicon spray.
