Washer seemed to be running fine. Yesterday noticed a very loud squealing during the spin(other threads here have mentioned jet sound, this sounds like it) and the spin didn't get up to full speed. Took the clothes out and same thing.
It also squeals during wash cycles/agitation but of course is loudest during the spin cycle.

Belt looks pretty good. Motor moves. Belt can be turned by hand, so it doesn't seem to be the main bearing. Took the belt off and ran the motor and no noise. Put the belt back on and ran it, pulled the motor to take up some slack in the belt and it seemed to get better, but noise didn't go away completely. I'm hoping it's a belt, but think maybe the extra tension I put on the motor simply pulled on the main thrust bearing and reduced the noise.

Anyone with this model have some advice. I don't see any water/oil leaking, at least it's not obvious from taking the front panel off and tilting the washer up.

I've read that replacing a tranny/bearings is almost not worth it on these models. Can someone help before I go and spend $$$ on a new washer. Thanks.
/Mike

Where is the noise coming from?

Is it in the belt area or is it in the middle of the washer?

Here is a link to your washer model MAV5057AWW.

Just a follow up to let everyone know the final result. It sounded real bad, so I was fearing the worst. But it started all of a sudden, so I thought it strange that it would be a bearing(which should grow gradually worse over time).

Took apart the pump assembly and a piece of metal was caught in there(maybe from my kids hair clips?). Took the metal out and it would've worked fine, but saw rust forming on the bottom side of the pump bearing. So I just got a new pump and belt and now she is as good as new. Thanks.
