Default Maytag performa bangs during spin
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: PAV2300
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a top load maytag performa washer. It is about 5 years old. About a year ago it started to screech loudly as it came out of the spin cycle, but no big deal. Then it started to bang and walk across the floor during the spin. This has gotten progressively worse. When new, I could load it full and it was solid as a rock. Now it bangs even with a small load. I don't know if these problems affect each other.

The reason it screechs is because the pad on the bottom, that is glued onto the base pan is wearing down to the metal. If you took the front off, you would see white powder on the very base in the middle. That is also your reason for the out of balance issue. The name of the parts is a snubber pad. the part # is 21002026 What you have to do is pop the top up, and take the front off, and also the take the black hose that goes to the bottom of the tub, and the plactic clear hose off the rear of the tub. Then take all the springs off the base, and then get a budy, and pull the whole tub assembly out through the top. Basically everything that is attached to the tub assembly has to come off. Then scrape off the old snubber, and glue the new one on. Let it sit for awhile, before you put it back together. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
