Default Maytag Noise During Spin Cycle
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: HAV3460AWW
Age: 5 - 10 years
Metallic/gringing noise during spin cycle. Leaned back, removed pulley. Transmisson turns smoothly clockwise, not at all counterclockwise.

Could there be something caught in pump? A cam/pulley assembly problem? Thanks for any advice!

Take the belt off and remove the dust cap off the middle of the pulley and spin the pulley counter clock wise.

See if the cam is engaging.

The grinding noise could be the tub bearing or it could be something stuck in the tub.

Try to pin point where the grinding is coming from.
