Post Maytag Neptune won't stay on.
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAH4000AWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

informational:
My Maytag Neptune stopped working. When we pushed the start button, the ON light would come on then go right back off. If we held the start button, the machine would continue to run and overflow.
I opened the top panel and removed the main control board for inspection. What I found surprised me. Two traces running along the bottom edge of the back of the circuit board had burnt leaving a scorch mark on the metal back panel behind them. I scratched the traces off at both ends of the board, then replaced them by soldering wires in their place and hot glued them to the board. Everything ran normally for a week, until yesterday.

My washer made a growling sound while turning, then by day's end it stopped spinning all together. After running the diagnostics (sheet hidden inside top control panel) I determined the motor control board must be bad. No visible damage, but 3 phases were not outputting normally. And testing each phase coil on the motor shows normal 2-3ohms, so I think the motor is good.
From reading these forums, I know there are a lot of DIY'ers who like to repair these at the component level, and I thought it would be a crying shame to toss a good motor (I think) and a control board that has no visible damage. So, if anyone would like this board, harness & motor and you're willing to pay the shipping, let me know, I'll hang onto it for a few months an toss it if no one contacts me. My email should be accessible from this forum. I'll check it at least once a week.

I bought and installed the $214 motor conversion kit (which comes with a new Motor, harness & control board) and it's working fine now.

ps. That's the 3rd repair to this 8yr old unit. Last year it was the bearing making a loud squeal during high speed spin cycle. I bought the outer drum w/bearing kit and installed it.
