Angry Maytag Neptune won't reach top spin RPM
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: neptune MAH3000
Age: 5 - 10 years

OK, I am usually a good tech, but this one has really got me @#^#@ off. This Maytag Neptune MAH3000 has a new wax motor in the door, main control board, drive motor & motor control board and a new outer drum & seals. Everything functions correctly until the spin cycle is reached. It will start to spin and then stall. It does this every time regardless if it is empty, full, or half full. The water pumps out just fine. The clothes are just left soaked because of no high RPM spin. I have checked and verified functionality of all three "out of balance" switches as well as the "spin enable" switch in the door. The door locked light comes on too. I have went as far as to bypass all these switches with shunts to make sure they are not opening and the same thing happens (stall at spin). I have continuity between both the "out of balance" and "spin enable" circuits to the control board. I have even tried a second new control board and the same thing happens. What else am I overlooking?

If the motor and the motor control board are new check the tachometer harness from the motor to the motor control board.

Thanks Shelia, but that checks ok too. The motor and motor control board came as a set so a new harness was included. I have double checked and there is good continuity through all conductors and I don't have any shorts between conductors or to ground. The wires between the main control board and motor control board also check ok.

For the MAH 3000, look underneath washer for the service sheet, should have a check circuit for spin failures. Also check timer, probably bad.
If not bad might be time to cut your losses and get a new washer.
