Question Maytag MAV7550 washer washes but won't drain
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MAV7550AWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

I'm having a weird problem with my Maytag MAV7550AWW washer. It happens in all 3 cycles the same. It fills, washes (agitator working), but won't spin out to empty the wash water. But the timer continues through the rinse/spin parts of the cycle till completion. The tub still has the wash water in it though. Till this point I'd suspect a problem with the drain being clogged or the pump. But here's the weird part.

If I set the washer back to just the spin cycle it spins up, and the pump empties the tub just fine. So I don't think there are any problems with the pump or clogs in the drain line as it works fine in the spin cycle when I start it there.

Also if I start the washer in the rinse cycle it will fill up, agitate and not empty the tub of the rinse water, but the timer also continues through the spin cycle, doing nothing.

Any ideas what might be going on here and where to begin trouble-shooting this problem.

Thanks,
Eric

It sounds like it is a problem with the timer.

Set the washer and let it go through the cycle and when it come to the spin cycle if it does not click in wiggle the timer knob.

Here is a link to your washer model MAV7550AWW.
