Default Maytag Legacy Washer Leaks under Drum
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: SAV515DEWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

I can see the leak running down the outside of the agitator shaft under the drum - I can't get the plastic drum loose to see how to stop the link (I assume there is a gasket, or sealant problem). Can anyone help me remove the plastic drum?

It is likely the tub seal that is leaking.

You will have to remove the agitator and the inner tub to get at the seal.

Here is a link to your washer model SAV515DEWW.

i'd check for loose hose connections first around pumps and tub drain before going for the big guns.

Thank you both - Sheila - Do I need a special tool to remove the Seal Nut? tha is where I stopped. I can loosen it wth a wrench, but I didn't know if it was threaded and therefore didn't want to break it.

The nut is threaded.

There is a special tool, but if you break the nut it does come in the seal kit number 13 on the break down.
