Default Maytag Leaking Water and Squeaking
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: sav515daww
Age: 1 - 4 years

Maytag had xmission replaced 1 year ago. When it begins spin cycle, it sounds like car squealing tires. Opening front panel reveals belt dust scattered aroung the base. Do I need a belt, or an adjustment, or lube something?

Ocassionally, about a cup or two of water will be found on the floor underneath the washer. I noticed the Tub cover is damaged near where the water inlet is, but I can't see any overflow of water from it. I do notice that when it spins with the front off, I can feel a few drops hitting my face. The tub cover has a curled lip that I presume must keep water in. Some of that is gone because of the damage. I will order a new tub cover, but are there other possibilities of this occasional leak? I can't find any water on any component, other than accumulation along the sides of the the case.

I'm pretty sure this will be my last maytag. I shouldn't have this much trouble with washer purchased in 2004.

You may have a leaking tub seal.

Is the water coming from the bottom of the tub?

Was the seal replaced when the transmission was replaced?

If the seal is leaking the bearing may be binding and when it starts up you have the squeal.

This would cause the belt to wear.

Default Still leaking, do I get new washer?

Still leaking, but only when set to full load. Looks like it leaks during the final spin/rinse cycle. I suppose it must be the tub seal. Don't want to do it myself, so my question is, should I go for a new washer? Maybe a front loader, but not one with recurring problems. Any suggestions/insight?

The Duet by Whirlpool is a good front load washer.
