Default Maytag a211 not beginning wash cycle
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: a211
Age: 5 - 10 years

The previously dependable Maytag a211 washer is now suddenly not beginning the wash cycle. It will fill the tub to the appropriate level, but then nothing further happens.

Any suggestions welcome.

Kent

It sounds to me like you need the lid switch. The part # is 205415. If you take the back off the control panel, you will see the lid switch. It is black in color, and has 2 wires coming to it. If you have a ohm meter, pull 1 of the wires off and check for continuity, make sure the washer is unplugged when you do this check. If you want, and don't have a meter, again, make sure the washer is unplugged, and take the 2 wires off the switch and put the 2 terminal ends together to jump out the switch, and put alittle tape on them, so it does not hit metal, and then throw it in spin. If it spins, these good people here at parts select can ship the part to your door. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
