Here is your parts breakdown
Maytag LAT9406AAE

Here is a service manual
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...(16001145).pdf

Here is a tech bulletin
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...TCL-0001-B.pdf

Often this is a lid switch problem, especially suspicious of this since the tech sheet shows they have redesigned it. Looks like yours may need adjusting.

I understand how it is to be a tad isolated, my daughter & family live on the Charlotte's.

I don't know if you have a meter, but if you would want to check and see if the lid switch is bad, unplug the washer, and on top of the control panel on the left there is 2 phillips head screws, take out the one to your right, and on the right there is 2 phillips head screws on the left, take the one out to your left. Now pull the control panel to you, and lay it down. Inside in the middle you will see a small fuse, and a small switch, and another switch that is rectangle, and has 2 wires coming to it. These are all attached to one assembly. Take the 2 wires off the rectangle lid switch and put the 2 terminals together, and put some tape around it, so it does not hit metal, and then put the control panel back in place, and plug it in, and see if it spins. If so, you can use it like that till you get the switch assembly, the only thing is the washer will still spin when the lid is open. Tom ApplianceEducator.com Oh the part # for the switch is 22001682

Did you replace the whole switch assembly, or jump out the rectangle lid switch? Tom www.applianceeducator.com

Default maytag problem

I tried to follow your directions..got the switch(white rectangular comes apart?) with 2 wires undone. I then put the 2 ends together and taped them touching . Plugged the machine in and still got no action...is that what you would call "jump out the switch".
