Default Machine won't wash; rest cycle fine
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417 29042992
Age: 5 - 10 years

My front-loading washing machine will fill with water; make clicking sounds when the wash cycle should be going; it won't spin to wash the clothes; then it runs through the rest of the cycle as usual.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

This could be a timer problem.

Try the washer on the different cycles to see if it does the same thing.

Here is a link to the part of your washer 417 29042992.

I did try it on the other settings; same results. Which timer am I changing? Looking at the parts list I had from kenmore I see a cam-timer and a timer-washer. WHich should I be looking for?

If the washer will not wash on any cycle it is not the timer.

It could be the speed control board.

Look in the control panel for a technician sheet on how to test the washer.
