I know the history..maytag buys Amana, then sells out to Whirlpool, anyway as I have mentioned in my first post...I have had this apart...agitation works fine but when it goes into spin the helix drive nut stays stationary as the pulley rides on top of it causing this machine gun sound. Just to clear this up the belt has already been replaced...it is a very unigue design and if I may add , a poor one at that. If you look at the parts pic you may be able to figure the design...a helix drive nut has to interlock w/the pulley in both the agitate and the spin, it only angages in agitate...we have purchased another unit unfortunately but it would be nice to figure this one out |
