Default Loud Noise at end of washing cycle
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.82881800
Age: 5 - 10 years

We hear a loud "thunk" at the end of the wash/spin cycle. Washer functions fine otherwise. Has just begun doing this recently.

How do I remove the top and front of cabinet to see the motor, agitator, etc?

Thanks

Your spin brakes are bad & need replaced. To remove cabinet, remove the 2 screws that hold the control panel in front. Now flip the panel back on it's hinges, unplug the lid switch from the top, and you'll see 2 brass clips that hold the cabinet on, prise them off with a flat screwdriver, then tilt cabinet to you and lift off.
pop the cap off the top of agitator and remove screw with 7/16 socket wrench.
remove the pump hoses, remove motor unplug motor wires and harness from trans. remove 2 trans bolts with 1/2" socket, and pull out trans.
remove ring nut from spin baskek and loosen basket.
from the bottom pull out spin brake assembly. follow directions that come with new brakes
