Sound are very hard to determine.

Is the noise constant or does it come and go?

Pull belt off motor pulley and move spin basket . If you have bad bearing you will hear them.

Appguy,
I would imagine that loud bearing noise on a Maytag Neptune washer is probably only caused by the main tub bearings, not the motor bearings. I just replaced my Neptune's motor a few weeks ago, and started getting louder and louder bearing noise. Am thinking I need to replace the tub bearings. Know Maytag recommends to buy a new outer tub, but I will be trying to get the bearings from an industrial supply instead. Do you have any advice in this situation?
Thanks!

You can read about all the possible problems with the internal basket at www.applianceguru.com It is common to find the basket spindle rusty and the spider support arms ready to fail. If I remember, you are talking about $400 in parts here.
I would charge about $180 in labor for this job. Plus, you will spend a lot for shipping of parts.
