Same thing happens on mine - model # Sav2655AWW. The belt cooked and broke due to the drum getting jammed, then when I replaced it. When I started it, I saw that the helix was also skipping and making that awful sound. It appears that there is supposed to be 2 washers above the pulley, and they disintegrated making the pulley have too much play, so it would ride up on the shaft and subsequently skip.
Since I could not get the pulley off without taking the entire machine apart, I actually put washers on the bottom of the spline shaft. It worked great!! Now for the bad news...While that works, it appears that the pump went bad....oh well. |
