Default LOUD "clicking" during spin/agitate!
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: SAV3710AWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

During Agitation and spin there is a loud clicking sound, and tub spins very slowly. Took off panel and noticed the spin/agitate pulley is spinning but the plastic helix isn't. the clicking is the slipping between these two parts. Should they both be replaced? Forgot to add...just replaced the belt. It had separated and parts were caught in the area.

All of these parts were replaced 1 year ago. Also this just started by the machine would stop during the spin cycle, and after an hour or so it would start working normally. At first the clicking was just durin the spin cycle, now it during both agitate and spin.

Same thing happens on mine - model # Sav2655AWW. The belt cooked and broke due to the drum getting jammed, then when I replaced it. When I started it, I saw that the helix was also skipping and making that awful sound. It appears that there is supposed to be 2 washers above the pulley, and they disintegrated making the pulley have too much play, so it would ride up on the shaft and subsequently skip.
Since I could not get the pulley off without taking the entire machine apart, I actually put washers on the bottom of the spline shaft. It worked great!! Now for the bad news...While that works, it appears that the pump went bad....oh well.
