i have an inglis top load washer the tub spins freely in spin cycles but the agitator make a very loud banging noise when spinning. if you reach in while it's spining and grab the agitator you can easily stop it and the baging noise quits i have taken the assembly apart down to the nut that holds the tub in place but i can't get the nut to free up so i can remove the tun to look at the drive parts underneath.i have also taken the motor and drive out and looked at them for lose or damages parts but i found nothing. any ideas?

There is nothing under the that tub, so don't remove that nut! Is it quiet with the agitator removed? If so repair the agitator!!
