Red face Lid switch
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.2042911
Age: 5 - 10 years

*model#: 110.20422911 * ---guess i missed a # in the heading---

i am trying to replace the lid switch. finally got it apart to remove the old one but it wasn't attached to anything at the top where the lid pokes through the hole. i found the part 3949239 but cannot pick it up for another day or two. is there a way to bypass this part although not very safe (my concern is being electricuted not really with the spin cycle. i'm 45 miles for the part place and 25 miles from the closest washeteria. handwashing is getting old not to mention messy and i really need to do some laundry.
in addition, i can't seem to find a decent how to/instructional site on how to replace the switch or to disasemble the machine. re assembly info for the back panel, i suppose is what its called, would also help me greatly.

Do you want to bypass the lid switch? If you have the old switch & harness off.
cut the old plug off, leave 4 " of wire on it. You'll find the old plug with 3 wires on it,a green wire you don't need, but strip off 1/2 " of insulation from the other 2.
Twist those2 together and secure that with tape, now plug that back into the other half of the harness, the washer will run normally. if you open the lid, it wont stop, to stop push timer knob in to stop. when you get your new lid switch, replace it, and throw away the bypass cheater Bettyboop
