Question Lid Switch
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 11092429800
Age: More than 10 years

How Do You Bypass The Lid Switch To See If Its Good Or Bad?
ALSO AM I SUPPOSE TO BE ABLE TO MOVE THE AGITATOR BY HAND IF THE WASHER IS OFF? I'VE NEVER NOTICED IF I COULD DO THIS BEFORE OR NOT. IT DOES NOT MOVE MANUALLY NOW.

Yes the agitator will move when the washer is off.

It is best to use a meter to check the lid switch.

What Would Cause The Agitator Not To Move Manually? Is This Anything Linked To The Lid Switch Also?
And Thanks For The Quick Response And Info., It Was Much Appreciated!

Remove The 2 Phillips Screws On The Right And Left Lower Front Edge Of Your Control Pannel. Now Wiggle And Lift The Control Pannel And Swing It Back On It's Hindges. Make Sure It's Unplugged.now The Little Plastic Plug With A Green Wire In The Center. And Tan Or Grey Wires On Either Side(green Is Ground, It's The Two Outer Wires Is What You Need To Test) Pull Up On The Plug, Some Have A Small Catch To Relise It, From The Top Of Washer. Use A Small Paper Clip Insert It Into The Plugs Outer Wires Make Them Fit In There Firm, Then Wrap A Piece Of Electrical Tape On The Paper Clip And Plug To Make It Safe. Now Plug It In And Set On Spin And Pull Out The Knob And Start Spin Cycle, If It Runs Now The Lid Switch Was Bad. Remember If The Lid Was Dropped Hard A Few Times, It Usually Smashes The Lid Switch, Making It Usless Bettyboop

THANKS BETTYBOOP FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSE. I USED A 33mm PAPER CLIP (SMALL, BUT NOT THE SMALLEST I FOUND OUT LATER), AND I BENT IT LIKE THIS "U". I CUT OFF THE EXCESS AND PUT EACH LEG OF THE CLIP IN THE OUTER CONTACTS OF THE PART OF THE CONNECTOR WHOSE WIRES ARE GOING TO THE BACK OF THE WASHER, THEN WRAPPED IT IN ELECTRICAL TAPE. I COMPLETELY REMOVED THE LID SWITCH FIRST. I PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER (THIS HAS BEEN A FIRST AND A REAL EXPERIENCE FOR ME!) AND IT IS STILL DEAD ON SPIN CYCLE. I DIDN'T TRY FILLING THE WASHER B/C I DIDN'T WANT TO EMPTY IT BY HAND AGAIN. BUT I DID TRY THE SPIN ON ALL THE CYCLES AND IT DID NOTHING. AND MADE NO NOISE AT ALL ON THE SPIN CYCLES. DID I NOT USE THE PAPER CLIP RIGHT? OR WHAT IS THE NEXT PROBLEM.

Thanks Shelia For Your Quick Response. I Was Instructed On How To Bypass The Lid Switch And Tried This, But May Have Done It Wrong B/c Washer Is Still Not Working. I Have Removed The Lid Switch And Am Still Going To Test It. I Was Hoping The Bypass Would Work So I'd Know That's The Problem And Not An Expensive One And One I Could Do Myself. Again Thanks For You Advice.

Does the lid switch click when lid is closed, if so, it's probably ok. You then probably have a bad timer. Pull cover and check for blown contacts.

Can Do It;
I'm Impressed,, If You Ever Give Up Your Day Job, Think, Washer Repair.
Ok Do You Feel Your Paper Clipmade A Sound Connection?
#2 Did Your Washer Motor Run Ok On Wash? I Test Wash Cycle By Turning Off Hot/cold Supply Hoses, Then I Pull Off The Pressure Switch Hose At The Bell Near The Right- Rear-bottom Edge, Of The Tubset Washer On Reg Fill, And Water Level High Now Pull Out Start Knob, Then Gently Blow Into The Hose To Simulate Washer Filling Pressure,
If You Hear C Click From The Pressure Switch, But No Motor Sound, You Have A No Power Stiutation To The Motor. Moving On If Motor Runs Ok
Next Try (w/unpluged Cord) Disconect The Big Flat Plug/motor Harness.
Look At The Contact Pins, with Reading Glasses If Nessary, If You See Any Conector Blackened Or Burnt Looking You Probably Have Your Spin Cycle Problem Solved. I Find This 8-10 Times A Year. If So Go To A Junk Yard That Recycles Old Washers And Talk Them Into Letting Off An Old Motor Plug, Cut It Off With A Lot Of Cord, 8-10". You Can Either Splice All The Wires To Your Harness With Red Butt Crimp Conectors.
Or As I Do, Carefully Remove The Bad Conector From The Plug, Then Do The Same With The Donor Plug, Make It Secure. Then You Only Have To Splice One Wire. Piece O' Cake For A Crafsman Like You, Check It Out And Let Me Know. Bettyboop
