Exclamation Leaking - trying to identify appr. part
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: pav2300aww
Age: 1 - 4 years

Washer leaking during wash cycle, hubby removed back panel and determined that it was leaking around the tub... called appliance guy who took one look at the open panel and the model and said we needed a tub and stem seal and quoted $250ish and recommended buying the cheapie washer at costco instead. Hubby said he would tackle so I called maytag directly who sent me a tub top seal when I asked for a tub stem seal.

Since then, I found partselect.com, and determined it is likely that we need the tub seal as identified in the transmission series Maytag PAV2300AWW Parts List
In trying to get off the seal nut assembly, hubby busted a couple of the pastic "fins" (for lack of a better word), and now I think we need the whole tub & seal kit which I already ordered before posting here. However, would like to verify this and also understand the appropriate way of removing the existing tub and stem seal.

Also, this machine has always been a bit "posessed" during the spin cycle, and the same appliance guy said we could probably use a tub stabilizer ring. Upon asking for this part from Maytag, we got a pin-stabi (maytag part #35-2052) Doesn't look at all like a ring to me and not sure if we need it and where it would go. ???

THe only good out of my initial maytag order is the spring set that I figured would be required after years of possessed action and I must say, comparing the new to the existing under the tub, there is a world of difference...

Anyway, curse my mechanically saavy husband for putting non-mechanical (and non-interested!) me on this task, but any HELP would be appreciated.

THANKS!!!

Yes the seal that you would be looking for would be under the transmission breakdown.

The ring that the technician would have been talking about is number 29 on the base breakdown.
