Default Leak Seal Replacement
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LW3303W
Age: More than 10 years

Hello,

This is an Amana LW3303W washer which seems to be similar to the maytag washer. Everything works well but the tub leaks so I bought a new agitator bell and seal kit, but I want to replace the seal under the hub too. The unit is disassembled such that the 4-bolt hub is showing. There is a great picture of it from http://www.american-appliance.com that I attached. In the picture, the 1.5inch nut is removed but I'm having a hell of a time trying to remove that nut. I have a 3/4inch socket adapted up to a 1/2 breaker-bar (the socket isn't really deep enough but it is the best I have right now). I put a sacrificial bolt in the hub and hammer handle to hold the hub still. This nut is not budging. It is soaking with some liquid wrench but I'm not sure how to get enough leverage on it.

Has anyone done this job that could provide some hints?

Thanks much!

Jeff

I do not have the service information on this washer but the nut may be a left hand thread.

Give that a try.
