Default Kitcenaid washer fills and spins but doesnt agitate
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KAWS700JQ4
Age: 1 - 4 years

kitchenaid washer model KAWS700JQ4 fills up but doesnt agitate but spins and drains but during the agitate cycle i dont think the control moves. when this first happened i played with the cycle switch and got it to agitate but now it just fills and if i move it to rinse or spin it works .is it the control box for cycles that is gone

I have the exact same problem but with a Maytag model number LAT74ooAAL. I did a search but I didn't find a similar problem. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a timer issue. Check schematic for motor wiring. Check motor voltages when it is supposed to agitate, Check bothe start and run windings.
If any voltage is missing that will confirm bad timer.

Also check for a bad fill switch, that won't energize the motor upon filling washer!

Come on people, don't guess. Navster when you say it does not agitate, does the motor come on, but the agitaor, does not turn? If so, they way to check the agitator dogs is, grab the top part of the agitator, and turn in clockwise, a wrist turn, and then back the other way, a wrist turn, and the bottom of the agitaot will grab, if the dogs are good, if not replace the agitator dogs. The part # is 80040. If you need me you can reach me at my web site, at ApplianceEducator.com Tom PS Shiela has a great picture of the agitator dogs.
