Default Kenmore won't agitate, spin, or drain
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.20722990
Age: 5 - 10 years

All in all, this has been a good machine. Nw, with no warning whatsoever, it has totally quit working.

It fills, but that's it. When attempting to agitate or spin, it just sits there making a rapid clicking/grinding sound. Also, it refuses to drain.

With my wife out of work due to a new baby and some other unexpected bills, this is just about the worst time for a new washer/stupidly expensive repair to come up. Is there any hope that this is fixable by a do it yourselfer, or am I looking at frequent laundry runs to grandma's for the next little bit until I can buy a new one?

Thanks in advance for any help.

THat would be the coupler. If you do it yourself it will be real cheap. If you need further instruction, I can be reached at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Thanks for the tip. I did some research and opened the machine up last night before I saw your message. Checked the pump, but it was fine. Took the motor off, found black residue, pulled the coupler off - and it fell into two nice, pretty pieces.

At least it's no big deal to fix!
