Default Kenmore water level swirtch
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 26902
Age: 5 - 10 years

Water will not stop filling. This is probably the level switch or the connecting air hose. I need to know how to find the switch and the hose that connects to the tub. How do I access these parts to see what's wrong?

Will the water stop if you stop the power by pushing the timer knob in?
Or do you have to shut off the faucets?

Yes, the electrically operated valves function properly, If I rotate the timer knob to a position past where the fill cycle "must" end, the water stops. The machine will agitate, spin, and drain properly. From reading previous posts, the problem is probably the fill switch or the interconnecting hose to the tub, My question really involves how do I disassemble or at least open up the machine to access these parts so I can check them? Remember that I just replaced the power coupling - an interesting job in itself. It is likely I fouled up the fill sensor system in the process, as I was unaware it existed or how it worked. I under stand how it works now, but I still need to get a look to see what's wrong.

Open up the control panel, it's the switch with the clear hose attached,
you opened the machine to replace coupling, right?

Well, not really. I started to remove the back from the machine, then couldn't figure how to get it completely loose, so I put it back on. I finally figured out that if I tipped the machine on it's side I could access the motor from the bottom, so I did the coupling replacement via that path.

I would like to find out how to remove the control panel, which I was unable to do. I have found a picture of the water level switch, so I will know it when I see it. I am presuming that it is attached to the water level control knob. I probably pulled the sensing hose loose from one end or the other, but not exactly sure where to look for it, or how to gain access if I find a loose end.

Looking at the panel, remove the 2 phillips screws on each side( right & left) lower front of the panel, then tilt the panel back on it's hinges, all the componnets are there

There are no visible screws on any surface of the control panel, front, side or rear. There are what looks to be end caps at either end of the control panel, but no obvious release points. Do I need to remove the end caps to access the screws, and if so, how do I release them?

The only two screws I see at all are at the bottom rear of the machine. These are the ones I tried to loosen before, but after removing them I still could not release the rear panel, so I re-installed them.

You probably have the model that has the screws hidden behind a trim piece on right & left front corner, take a flat screw driver and put it in the back of the trim piece gently pry from back to front, and it will pop off, exposing the two screws at bottom corners

OK, got it! Trouble was as I suspected, I inadvertently pulled the hose off of the switch inlet. Replaced hose, now washer works fine. Thank you very much for your patience and your assistance.
