Default Kenmore Washing machine turning off
Brand: Kenmore
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi All,

We have a 5 year old Kenmore/whirlpool catalyst top loading washer. A few months ago it stopped mid-cycle and powered off. I checked the circuit breaker etc and everything was fine, the next day I started it up with no problems and it
ran fine for months. Last night it stopped again in mid-rinse, I unplugged it, etc and it wouldn't come back on. I then waited about 2-3 hours and turned it on again, it stayed on 10-20 secs and turned off again. I can't get anyone to give
me a low cost estimate, is this likely to be a minor low cost expense or should
I just replace it? The unit cost about 400 bucks 5 years ago. If I should replace what is a good top loading model, I don't think a front loader will fit in our washing area.

Thanks so much,.

Greg

Can you please supply the model number to your washer?

This could be as simple as a switch.

Do you know what the washer was doing when it shut off?

Was it in the spin cycle?

With your model number I can provide a list of the parts to your washer.
