The washer does everything except spin or agitate.

it sounds like its spinning but then when you open up the top you can see that the basket is not even turning. I know its supposed to stop when you open it up but the clothes are still in the same position as they were. I turned the basket by hand and it seems very hard to turn, i did manage to turn it with one hand and then when i close the lid and then quickly open it up I could see that the basket actually tried to turn but looked like it was stuck in mud just barely turning and then stopping again.

I checked the direct drive coupler/ black rubber piece. Looked in good working condition. The rubber disk with the white plastic pieces are in great shape.

My mom told me that when she would load alot of clothes in it it would not agitate / spin. As I have explained above it does not even turn now. The Motor seems like its working fine..

By the way its a kenmore elite quiet pack II - heavy duty.

Take off the motor and check the coupling off the motor. I've seen the center of the white plastic worn out round instead of keyed to fit the motor shaft!
