If your washer is 4 years old, it's a direct drive without a belt, to check clutch, put a pen or pencil in the lid switch hole, lid up hold the spin basket with one hand, and with the other turn the timer on fast spin. when it goes to spin, ease up on your grip on the basket and see if the spin basket pulls hard, then let go and see how fast it gets up to top speed. If you are not satisfied with it's performance, then you must remove the pump & motor, remove the 7/16" bolt from the agitator,
then unplug wiring from motor, remove the 3 bolts from bottom of transmission, then pull out transmission. On the shaft of the trans mission is a chrome spin clutch, pinch the spring on the clutch lining with a pair of plyers, and remove lining. check the condition of your lining. Look to see if the rivets are not worn thru to touch the chrome dish, if so order a new clutch lining. Also check if there's oil inside the cabinet and the clutch too! |
