Default Kenmore washer problem
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.26712690
Age: 5 - 10 years

Washer will spin for a short time then stop on spin cycle I removed the clothes and no water is draining and the tub will spin for about 10 seconds then stop - I cannot hear the motor runnning. Could the problem be the plastic motor coupling?

No if the coupling is damaged the washer will not agitate or spin.

Check your lid switch it may be loose or the bracket may be broken.

Here is a link to the parts of your washer model 110.26712690.

Default Washer problem

I checked the lid switch - I had the lid open and used a pen cap to activate the switch - washer will spin about half speed for 7-10 seconds and stop. I have to let it sit for about 5 minutes before it will do the same thing. Water in the tub is not draining.

Check to see if there is something caught in the pump.

Do you hear a click when the washer stops spinning?

It may be the over load on the motor.
