Unhappy Kenmore Washer makes Loud Grinding or rattling noise during final spin
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417.42142100
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have this Kenmore heavy duty front load 2 way tumble washer... probably 6 years old. Since last few weeks we have noticed that during final spin(when washer runs really fast) it makes grinding/rattling noise. Very loud(like you are in battle ground and hears constant firing) and whole washer shakes. I have washer in the basement.. but you can hear noise all the way on 2nd floor. During wash or rinse it doesnt make any noise. but this happens only during final spin.
I have read all your answers in the previous forums and I have opened top pannel and front lower pannel. I see all four springs/suspension on the place. When you see from the front glass door.. I see whole stainless steel tub runs crazy and shakes... ..what could be the problem

Sounds like u have a bad rear bearing, look for brown splatters inside the unit. Also the wiggle the spin basket up and down the screws may have came out. If your bearing is shot it will leak grease into your load and stain your clothes.

Yes I do have brown stains on my clothes... Is it easy to replace it if you buy parts online... What I need... only bearing or tub bearing kit ?

No it's not very easy to replace, you have to replace the entire rear half of your tub usually you should replace the pulley and belt and in some extreme cases the spin basket has to be replaced.
