Default Kenmore washer leaking
Brand: Kenmore
Age: 5 - 10 years

When the washer is in spin or rinse cycle- it begins to leak. The leak occurs where the hose meets the washer. Recently, I noticed that it is also leaking where the hose drains into the wall area. Not real sure how to describe the leak. It is almost like a burping effect. A good deal of water will come out quick at the drainage into the wall. I changed the hose and clamps to be safe. Is this the washer or a backed up drain? Please help!!!

The way to tell if it is a backed up drain is, put a paper towel around the hose, where it goes in the drain, and run a cycle. If the paper towel is wet, then you have a backed up drain. I can be reached at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

No paper towel was needed, because water actually comes out of the drain/hose outlet. I poured a little drano down it and cleaned the hose out under the washer as well. Usually, it leaks after two cycles, but I was able to make it three cycles with no leak. I hope that the problem is cured. What do you think?

I would call someone like roto-rooter, and have them come out and clear that line. I don't think that that drano will quite get the job done. Tom

I do have someone coming out to look at the drain. I hope it is not backed up into the ground. Thanks for all your help!
