This unit bangs against the sides during the beginning of the spin cycle, but only somtimes. I have replaced some rubber pieces on other top load washers, but this is a front load. Any ideas? I am very mechanically inclined and am not afraid to tackle this job. Just need some direction. Thanks guys.

If you have a heavy load it may bang a couple of time just while it distribute the load.

It will do the same thing with a light load.

It is possible that you may have a weak shock absorber.
