Red face Kenmore spinning problem
Brand: Kenmore
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a Kenmore front loader that has had a small leak during spin cycle, then it started to leave little grease/oil circles on my clothes(from the drain holes), It also made a load noise during spin cycle like a jet and also made banging noises. Now it starts to spin and stops like it is binding on something. The model#417.42042100 seriel#xc15008047

You probably have bad bearings/seals that support the basket. Go to www. applianceaid.com for directions.

thanks for the link. After doing the research it looks like it will be better to go buy another washer. Looks like it would be about 400 in parts and I could get a scratch/dent one for 500. Thanks again

Good idea, you might want to look at the new Whirlpool Cabrio washer, seems good and not a front loader but probably just as good, or go for the new Whirlpool direct drive washers.

Do you know if the bearing can be replaced without replacing the shell?

For all kinds of info on bearing replacement go to Appliance Blog Forums - Powered by vBulletin, you can save lots of money, but very time consuming and may be futile if too much damage.
