Default Kenmore C40042 Front Load (made by Frigidaire) problem final spin
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 970-C40042-00
Age: 5 - 10 years

The machine will only occasionally spin fast in final cycle

The pump is working fine, and the timer dial keeps moving and does not stall. My guess is the off balance sensor is bad, if there is such a thing.

The machine tries to start spinning, quick enough that the clothes will stick to the walls, but will stop as if is not balanced. Then tries to rebalanced in the other direction. If i push in the dial and move it to the next final spin, after several attempts at this, I can get it to go. I have even tried running the washer completely empty, and have the same problem.

I've done a bit of research and jiggled the door to see if it was the door switch, and I don't think it's that. I'm assuming it wouldn't even start spinning if it was that anyway.

Second I was told that it could be the speed control board. Could this be the part to replace? I understand there's a way to test it, how do I go about that?

or is it something else... btw, i did replace the rear shell as the bearring had gone.

This sound like a faulty speed control.

The speed control is located in the right rear corner of the washer.

Would that be the speed control BOARD? OR the speed control MOTOR?

Also, I thought there's a way to test the speed control board?
