Default Kenmore 90 - not agitating
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 26912690
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi. We have a Kenmore 90 washer that no longer agitates. For the past week it has been moving slightly, certainly not the way it should. This morning it has decided to not aggitate at all, and my wife reports that the clothes on top remain dry. She stated it is making a "grinding" noise, not moving, and then all of a sudden the agitator will make a partial rotation. Sounds like something is slipping.

I replaced the motor coupling almost a year ago and don't think this is the issue. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Here's the model number my wife gave me: 26912690 along w/ a serial number: CF3105415.

It sounds like the coupler is the problem with the washer.

The coupler may have cracked.

It may be the dog in the agitator that have worn.

Is the bottom have of the agitator moving?

Select the low water level and fill the washer with water only.

See if it will agitate.

And then see if it will spin.

Use a pen or something to hold the lid switch closed so you can leave the lid up to watch it.

Here is a link to the part of your washer model 11026912690.

I looked at it last night. I filled it to the lowest setting, it agitated and spun without any issues under no load (no clothes in the washer).

However, I can change it from rotating clockwise to counter clockwise and backagain; there is no resistance. I started taking apart the upper part of the agitator and it looks like the dogs are worn. One had it's teeth left but the other three are gone. I'm assuming this is my problem.
