Default Its Leaking
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LW8303W2
Age: More than 10 years

I Think It Is About 10 Years. The Leak Is Coming From The Bottom Of The Tub Where This Round Conical Device Is Attatched To The Bottom Of The Tub. Is This The Trans 0r The Pump. Below This Is The Belt Drive. Is It A Complex Fix Or Fairly Easy To Take Apart And Replace A Seal In This Area. I Am A Pretty Good Wrench Thanks, Ty Anderson

You have bad tub bearing and seal. Go to Repair help for dryers, washers, refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, icemaker, and so much more. Repair Aid entrance.
for instructions.
This is a very labor intensive job, probably 4 hours. You might want to just buy a new washer.

Thanks so much for the speedy reply. I now have the seal kit but havefound out the age by date coding this machine. Its not ten years but Sept of 1994. So question... is it worth the 4-6 hours of labor or will things continue to die on this machine? Thanks again, Ty

I think the spin bearing is integral to the tranny, so one less problem. From reading different posts, the biggest difficulty is getting the tub free from the plate that holds the spin basket.
One big unknown here is status of the tranny: Has it leaked any oil, is there any lateral play in the tranny spindle?
May as well tear it apart if tranny seems good.
Good luck, you will need it, glad I'm not doing it.
