Washing machine was making alien like noises (metalic sounds). Upon investigation found that it is not agitating, it will spin and drain. Noticed that it may have piece of material tangled underneath agitator. How do I remove agitator? I have removed cap assembly and srew that is below fabric softner cap. What is the next step or do I need go about at this in different way? Thank you for any direction/advise.

If there is a piece of metal under the agitator it is likely a bra wire.

Take a belt or piece of and run it under the agitator and pull up.

The agitator sometime are hard to pull off.
