Can you get the manufactured date of a kenmore washer from the model number?

I look on parts in the control panel, ie maybe the date might be on a switch or timer, near the part # 4/6/94 that's how I find out. I've met people who worked for maytag or whirlpool and they tried to explain "a" means a certain number and different letters mean date codes, but I never wrote anything down. I just look for dates on parts. Works for me
