To Replace the Belt For anyone who wants to replace the belt here is how I did it
Okay here goes, **UNPLUG the POWER**Remove the two screws on the front bottom, this allows you to pull the front cover off, after removing the cover you will see the Motor with the pump on the bottom, remove the 4 screws holding the motor to the bottom of the washer, then remove the two hose clamps that go to the pump and disconnect the wires that connect to the motor, I also found it helpful to remove the spring on the right side of the wash tub to allow better access. Remove the hoses from the pump, I marked one so I knew which one went where, be prepared for a bunch of water to come out, have several large towels handy. Now you should be able to remove the Motor with Pump attached, place it on a bench upside down and remove the three Torx screws that hold the pump on to the bottom of the Motor. Pull the pump off the motor shaft. This is where it all went south for me. The metal shaft was corroded and the plastic pump wouldn’t release the shaft, hours later and lots of WD-40 and gentle prying and out it came. I took a file and cleaned the shaft up and then put the new belt in place and re assembled. Unfortunately the NEW belt was not the correct one it measured 30" and I needed 32 and a half, so now I am again waiting for parts. Just a friendly piece of advice if your machine is as old as mine (5 Years) I strongly recommend New Hoses from the Faucets, one of mine had a golf ball sized bump in it and if it had broken while I was on Vacation, What a Mess. Luckily the belt went bad and I caught it prior to it bursting. I hope this helps, I am not a professional so proceed at your own risk, but it really is not that hard. Best wishes. |
