Default Hotpoint Washer Leaking
Age: More than 10 years

I bought my current home a year ago and the washer dryer came with it.
The Hotpoint washer model is HWH1007SW119....It's Canadian made, and can't find details of it anywhere, but am guessing its 10+ yrs old.
Last week I noticed water/oil leaking from under the washer at the front on the left side. It started more like a heavy grease leak....now its more oily water.
I've taken the back off and managed to pop of the top. I can't see where the leak is coming from.
I'm told it may be the tranny ($150 + repair time)....not sure if its worth fixing or not because I'm not sure how old it is or whether there may be a simpler fix.

Thanks for your time.

If the washer has a cardboard back it is the pre-1995 design. If so you have a combo rusted tub and tranny bottom seal leaking. Also check in side the washer by pulling off the agitator and check for oil on the agitator. If so you have a tranny tub seal leak also. This has a metal tub that likes to rust out and leak.
The tranny botom seal can be replaced but a rust hole in the tub is harder to fix.
