Default Hot water won't fill all the way
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: AA108
Age: More than 10 years

I have a 30-year-old Maytag washer that has run fine up until now. Now it won’t run a hot water load. When I turn it on it fills for a few minutes, then just stops (no timer clicking noises or anything). Then when I turn the knob to other places to try to get it to do something, the only place that works is the rinse cycle. So I turn it to the rinse cycle and it continues to fill and agitate, but it only uses cold water no matter what I set the water temperature to. After a few minutes of the rinse cycle, sometimes I can turn it back to the wash cycle and it will work, but sometimes not.

If I set it on cold water, the entire regular wash cycle works fine. But it can’t be a problem with the hot water hose because the hot water will fill at the beginning for a few minutes.

Also, after it fills for a few minutes then stops, if I press the Small Load button it will start agitating and continue on normally.

I got a new timer, and it actually ran 3 loads in a row normally, but then it went back to having this problem.

Default

It could be the water temperature switch that has bad contacts and when you install the timer you jarred the connection which made it work for the short time.

Check the continuity on the temperature switch.
