Default Horrible sound in spin cycle
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WCSR2070TBWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

This machine works perfectly. It just makes too much noise. I don't know how to characterize the noise it makes during the spin cycle but it is loud and harsh - like a scraping metallic noise, maybe. Since it is almost 10 years old I suppose it would have bearings that could be worn? What would be a likely source of the noise? I have removed the front of the machine and started and stopped the spin cycle to spray lithium grease on various parts to see if I could locate the source of the noise but I could not. Next step - blindly disassemble in ignorance?
If it is the transmission then I will abandon this project, but how to tell before disassembly?

Well you are one up on me because you know why your machine is making noise. The noise mine make is continuous and must be caused by a worn part. But I don't know what part. Perhaps keep using it until it dies?

I have the same noise that you have discribed perfactly.
Mine has been doing it for many months, maybe a year but, I believe it's about to blow up or come to a grinding halt. Have you discovered the problem or repaired it yet?
