Default Help! Washer leaking everywhere!
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LAT5006AAE
Age: 5 - 10 years

My washing machine started leaking like crazy a couple of days ago whenever it is filled and starts to aggitate. I have taken the front panel off of it and can clearly see that the leak is coming from the center (seal?). I don't know anything about repairing washing machines so I have called a repair man. What I'm wondering is about how much can I expect to pay for this kind of repair? The machine is a very basic model that would cost me about $400-450 to replace. Is it worth the cost of a repair or would it be better to buy a new one?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions you can offer!
-Sonja

Water Leaking From The Seal Also Ruins The Spin Bearing And Requires A Special Tool To Take Apart And Reasemble The Washer, And While You're At It Check The Snubber Ring And Pulley Before You Put It Back Together'
The Tool I Was Told Is 99.00$ Some Places Rent Tools I Don't Think That Tool Is On Their List But A Appliance Repairman Normally Has This Tool With Him Just My Opinion. Bettyboop

This job is rather labor intensive. Go to OpenDNS for info.
Can expect at least a $300 repair bill. Considering all the problems with the Performa washers, you may opt to just junk it.
